Here's a glimpse of my most recent project: unique packaging for a one-of-a-kind client, I Got A Chef.
The owner requested a simple, low-maintenance landing page that delivers on his brand promise to be customer-centric and reliable. He also wanted to enable site visitors to request quotes quickly. Using one of the most basic template-based web platforms (Google Sites), I designed a personalized quote form, complete with brand elements. Push notifications allow the owner, who admits to not being tech-savvy, to use the feature seamlessly with his existing business email.
"What started as a desire to overhaul my logo became a mission to brand my business nearly from scratch. I had no idea where to begin. In his consultation, he asked questions about my business and my goals that I had never even considered. It got me fired up!
Within the first week of getting my site up and running, I had multiple calls for appointments. I'm not the most tech-savvy guy, but Mike set it up so I can make basic changes to my site without needing to pay an hourly fee to a web person. That's money saved and added control. I'm loving it."

There is something about a challenge that I just LOVE. The founder hired me to provide web copy for her landing page and seven product pages. She was open to suggestions about a brand voice. After scouting competitors in the space, it was determined the brand's voice had to make people smile and think. It needed authority but also to be fun and relatable: A wisecrack here, a point of pride there... and a Freud reference for good mesaure.
This project involved a package of product copy, microcopy, and custom iconography. I went outside of my comfort zone to deliver assets from varying competencies. I have been taking on an increasing amount of graphic design work, but I credit my writing and communication skills for satisfied clients.
Mike was amazing. One of the best freelancers in the entire world!
The copy is clever and relatable, and just what my brand needed to stand out in a crowded space.
Love his patience & flexibility. Definitely recommend him. 1,000 stars for sure.
Whitley sells personalized toll-free numbers and domain packages to businesses. He wanted to reach established B2B marketing agents and agencies rather than looky-loos. He expressed a strong desire for congruency in his brand and messaging. What evolved was lean-and-mean copy: comprehensive information and relevant case studies wrapped into a short, punchy script. The owner sought a voice for 877Whitley.com that was clever but approachable. Here's the result.
I love to learn about new things. To say this industry is interesting would be an understatement. I loved learning about the history through relevant case studies and some of my independent research.
